Bikeran.

Bikram + run + biking = Bikeran (Bike-ran)

It’s 9 am and today I have already

  • Gone to an hour of Bikram
  • Ran 2.5 miles
  • Biked to the grocery store and back

I also had una desauna deliciosa:

You were mighty tasty, yes indeed.

You were mighty tasty, yes indeed.

1/2 cup Fiber 1, 1 cup Special K Protein Plus (I adore this cereal, HFCS can kiss my booty), 1/2 cup skim milk, 3 GINORMOUS strawberries. I also had some coffee with some half-and-half.

That right there is a breakfast of champions. It was delicious, I felt like I was indulging, and I was wholly satiated with just 315 calories. Boom. I’m all about protein. I’m all about fiber. That baby had both. WINNER!

Happy Friday party people!

Also check out my boy’s blog from India: www.nocrustnoproblem.wordpress.com. That boy cracks me up.

Don’t forget to lather up your sunscreen!!! 🙂

She speaks.

WOW! Have I been delinquent or what? Unfortunately I have been all over the US the past week, which made blogging difficult. But I’m back in action!

Today I started a 30-day trial at a local yoga studio. I went to a 5:45 am Vinyasa class and I LOVED it. I’ve never felt so invigorated at 7 am in my life. I cannot do binds, and I am not so skilled at pulling my leg into a lunge, but I’m hoping to get there at the end of these 30-days.

Anyone else have experience with yoga? I love how I feel afterwards- nothing really compares. I feel calm, sweaty, stretched. Amazing. Although, I must admit, it’s weird to me when men practice only in shorts. Why don’t they wear tops? Can women go topless? Or just in their bras? I never see that, but men I see with no shirt on in classes constantly.

Also- if you want to check out the best blog ever– check out my boo’s page as he updates his experiences in India! Love it- back in action 🙂

Wrote this yesterday, apparently forgot to hit “publish”– OOPS!

_______

Today I did not:

  1. Run myself into the ground
  2. Count calories
  3. Feel guilty for anything I did or ate
  4. Take pics of my food- I want to focus on just listening to my body first

Today I did:

  1. Listen to my body’s physical needs (Yoga)
  2. Listen to my body’s nourishment needs (Eating what I wanted, stopping when full)

I feel great today- more energized and in a happier place- and it’s just day 1! I am excited to continue this and write more on what it’s like to…LET GO and care for my body in a loving, affectionate, gentle way.

Tomorrow I have lots of class, free lunch (always interesting), and a slow run with a friend.

How were you affectionate with yourself today?

Viva las Vegas

Okay, as requested here is a sampling of my trip!

After doing half of P90x Synergistics and a quick 4-mile run, my boyfriend and our close friend (and an amazing, intelligent, and hilarious guy) left on Sunday and headed to Vegas. I really wish I hadn’t put my camera in the trunk as the geography was gorgeous. We drove from the Bay Area down to Vegas so we saw lush rolling green mountains, an ENORMOUS resevoir that was beautiful, and then desert full of cacti. We got in, checked into the Monte Carlo and began walking around. My boyfriend put a dollar in a slot machine, pulled it twice and kept losing. I pulled it and we won! I immediately hit “Cash Out” and walked away with a voucher for $1.25. A 25% increase in our money! hehehe 🙂 We saw a fountain show at the Bellagio, to Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me to The Moon, which I loved. We walked around the Bellagio, which has stunning Dave Chihuly everywhere, a wonderful garden, and a chocolate fountain. Again, I was lame and forgot my camera (and it’s a large Nikon D40 so not that easy to walk around with). We also wandered around Ceasar’s Palace and made dinner reservations at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill for the next night!

The next day our friend Tommy and I went on a fast 3 mile run (22 minutes!) down the strip before we explored. I would recommend going before 9 am, because we did quite a bit of dodging and weaving! I gobbled down some Starbucks oatmeal and we were off! First we booked tickets to see Cirque du Soleil’s Mystere after our dinner. I was so excited.

Here are some pics of our day walking around (We walked 6 miles!)

After the Venetian we explored Paris and headed back to swim a bit and go to dinner and the show. Dinner was DIVINE- it made me understand what it means to eat quality v. quantity. I was so satiated with just a bit because the food was so wonderful it made anything else seem like a waste of time. Haha. Cirque was fabulous as well- the flexibility and strength of the performers was stunning. It was also such a funny show:) We tried to go dancing, but it was a bit ridiculous trying to get in, so we went to New York, New York instead and enjoyed an amazing show at a bar of Dueling Pianos. We played a bit of blackjack then hit the sack.

All in all it was a great trip. Not much gambling, but I love any place you can explore by foot. I would return in a heartbeat for the shows and good food.

Whew long post- well, lots of pics. I hope the captions show- if the don’t let me know and I’ll fix it! I’m off to do some in-house Bikram (my muscles ache and are so tired from yesterday!) and other errands. Have a great day!

What is your favorite place to visit?

Hello World,

I’m back from Vegas and we had so much fun! We left up $20 🙂 And I was able to get my daily PB fix thanks to Justin’s natural PB packs!

I am pretty tired from lack of sleep and an insane 7.75 mile run this morning- I went a little interval crazy. I meant to do just 4 miles, but clearly kept on going. I have a gazillion posts to catch up on, but I hope to be back to full blogging force soon.

30-Day Shred Challenge is in limbo- hard to do with no computer, no dvd player, and no weights.

Yoga Challenge is in better shape- gotta love uploading it onto my Shuffle and doing it before bed 🙂

Anyone ever have a Kashi Roll? I absolutely love them!

xoxo,

PB and Jules

Yes, ’tis true- I’m blogging from the library and PROUD OF IT! I have so much work to do in the next few days (the quarter system is crazy people!) that it has been hard to find time to blog. However, I am sure you didn’t miss me.

Last night I got out all my eats for today including pre-10k snack, post-10k protein-hearthealthyoat-packed Fitnessista breakfast cookie (wanted something filling, yet cold while I was a sweaty mess), snacks, and lunch. I have dinner planned between my late classes tonight.

For you visual people here are my eats (pardon the 5 am photography):

Wow, great photography skillz, Juli

Wow, great photography skillz, Juli

A PB (mmmmm!) Chocolate Luna Cookie. It was no Mint Chocolate, like lovely Heather enjoys (and I think is my favorite too), but with PB in it- I was a fan. I also downed some coffee, but I was so groggy I don’t even remember drinking it. I live in a studio so my coffee maker is my alarm. I’m worried someday I’ll just drink it out of the coffee pot…

I ran with my friend. We wanted to do about six. Both of us were exhausted, but she has a Garmin Nuvi and that thing is the BOMB! It was so encouraging to know how far we had gone. Anyone have one? Are you happy with it? After my 6.23 miler I chugged a HUGE sigg of h2o and slowly ate this MASSIVE bfast cookie (3/4 cup oats, T DCD dreams PB [review coming soon!], 1 scoop Whole Foods Soy Protein Powder, 1/2 banana, stevia, 1/4 c light soy milk):

Cookie Monster

Cookie Monster

May not look big, but boy, that sucker’s got depth. I barely ate it all! But I consider myself a breakfast champion and know how to put it away with the best of them..(it may have taken me a solid 40 minutes to eat though…)

And snacks:

Cinnamon Raisin PB in 1/2 Ezekiel Pita (yep! That’s my next review!)

Because 7 hours in the library and 7 hours of class deserves a treat

Because 7 hours in the library and 7 hours of class deserves a treat

A treat for me! I plan to eat this between my 7 hours of library and 7 hours of class. Sigh.

Lunch:

Weird for two reasons

Weird for two reasons

1. Those are in deed KALE CHIPS!!!

2. Yes I plan on cooking the burger before I eat it. But they expire today. Thoughts on it still being good tomorrow? I don’t know if I can eat two in one day!

Me gusta Kombucha

Me gusta Kombucha

I know some of you dislike Kombucha. I really enjoy it… but then again, I think I get a weird buzz from it… anyone else? Guava is my FAVE.

CHALLENGE UPDATE:

  • 30-Day Shred– A little on hold this week as I am prioritizing cardio and yoga, but plan to start it back up asap.
  • Yoga– I AM SO IN LOVE. It calms me when I need calming, makes me feel strong when I feel weak, and rejuvenates me like nothing else. Wow. I love Hatha, Power, everything I’ve tried. I’m easy, I guess 🙂

CUPCAKE UPDATE:

The winner is….

Will you go out with me? Check yes or no.

Will you go out with me? Check yes or no.

BLACK AND WHITE!!! SO FREAKING AMAZING. My mom and I were simply waxing petic on this tasty morsel of heaven. I hope we meet again… The red velvet was good too, but really only because the cream cheese frosting was divine and that was mostly what you tasted.

PEANUT BUTTER REVIEW UPDATE:

  • PB and Co Dark Chocolate Dreams coming as soon as finals end
  • PB and Co Cinnamon Raisin Swirl is next on my agenda!

Ok, time for me to actually research Zero Tolerance in schools, read about Non-Profit Management, and hydrate some more.

Also, I am still reading your blogs- just not commenting much. I hope to be back soon 🙂 Thanks y’all!

I am considering a heart rate monitor or GPS. Any recommendations?? Which do you prefer?

After rocking through Level 3 of 30-Day Shred and 45-minute Power Vinyasa Flow, I was a sweaty and HUNGRY minx.

I couldn’t make up my mind what I wanted to eat, except to know I wanted something savory, something PB, and something sweet. I came up with these:

It looks like it wants to eat me...

It looks like it wants to eat me...

1/2 Ezekiel Pita (that ripped, oops), Hummus, Spinach, Red Pepper

Hello Mr. Delicious

Hello Mr. Delicious

Other 1/2 Ezekiel Tortilla, PB & Co Dark Chocolate Dreams, Sliced Strawberry… THIS WAS SO DELICIOUS!!!! I highly recommend this combination. Yum yum in my tum tum.

I finished my lunchy with something sweet and voluminous-

I'm sweet, I'm crunchy

I'm sweet, I'm crunchy

Strawberry Chobani, Vanilla Munch Galaxy Granola, Kashi Puffed Cereal. I like flavored Chobani but I wish it had the protein punch that Fage has.

Now I’m stuffed and ready for lots n lots n lots n lots of class and work. Have a great Wednesday!
